The year is 2026!
The last time I was here was five years ago. Would you look at that!
Does it feel like yesterday?Yes kinda.Especially as I go through the articles I previously posted-such wonderful warm memories.
Let's get right into it shall we?
Being a mother to king teenagers all the way down to a king toddler has come with a myriad of experiences in matters discipline.(Yes I'm a mother to five amazing kings now! And no I didn't give birth to one each year, for the five years I was away from this page😂! While at it, I sat at the feet of Jesus and rested there.)
It has come with days of absolutely not being their favorite, crying in the secret place from the exasperation that follows confrontation, desiring a get-away to quell the chaos within but ultimately and most powerfully seeing the value of process-coming to the divine revelation that discipline IS the process.
Discipline if taken well, leads to beautiful fruits.
I say that parenting is such a futuristic event; more so instilling discipline. It is primarily for tomorrow as it is for today!
We discipline for the society.
For the corporate sectors that may hire our children.
For the bosses that look for excellence and people who take initiative.
Such traits only come from the well of discipline.
We discipline for the queens that will get married to our kings-so that their daily lives are made easier. Imagine that guy who throws his socks everywhere and forces the wife to be the one who cleans after him just wasn't well disciplined as child.

What is the spirit behind discipline?
We have a template as children of the Most High.
The template is love!
As the Lord disciplines us because of love, so must we and so do we discipline in love!
If we heard the hearts of our Father and earthly fathers as they correct us, instead of hearing their sharp tones or loud voices which may make us uncomfortable then we would hear the voice of love!
Hebrews 12:6-7 NKJV
[6] For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” [7] If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?
Hebrews 12:11 NLT
[11] No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
So then, why discipline?
1. We discipline so that our children may share in the excellence and uprightness we carry, just as God desires that we share in His holiness. He corrects us so that those rough edges are smoothened.
Hebrews 12:10 NLT
[10] For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness
2. As a parent, it is for my good that I discipline!
I am reminded of comments I have gotten about one of our kings-of how well mannered and disciplined he is. If asked the boy will attest that work was done in the background as he grew up. The finished product of peace we experience as his parents benefits us!
Proverbs 29:17 NIV
[17] Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.
Do you want to be counted among the wise?
Heed to discipline and correction! Disregarding discipline is termed as self-despise and stupid😂The wise man had no chills as you can see in the verses below. I say that discipline is like hanging out with the grown ups-they have experience, they draw you into it, and that right there is maturity being birthed. You can't have grown up experiences without growing up!
Proverbs 15:31-32 NIV
[31] Whoever heeds life-giving correction will be at home among the wise. [32] Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.
Proverbs 12:1 NIV
[1] Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.
Discipline is but for a time and time is of the essence!!
The more you delay in accepting, embracing and implementing discipline the more you display your unrefined self to the world. The more you waste your wife's time, as she labors to pick up your socks from under the seats where you threw them(Sina ubaya tena😂)The more you miss out on opportunities at your work place because you do not have the rivers of discipline flowing out of you.
I urge you mum and dad, as you suffer the exhaustion of instilling discipline, do not abort mission. I repeat do not.
I am reminded that I have hardly had to use the cane on my 4 year old in the recent months. I used it once, twice, thrice and there was no fourth time. Don't back down at the second round. Push in a little harder and see the darkness slip out of your child💪
Discipline means nakedness and vulnerability hence the discomfort.
My obligation as a parent is to shield my child's vulnerability. As I discipline, I make no shouts of it to ears that have no business hearing about my child's weaknesses. The fruit of a well-rounded valuable individual in the society is what deserves the public shouts, the other type of shouting, do it in the house.
May we be lovers of discipline. Both in installation as leaders & parents and in embracing it from God as His children!
